LEAD MINISTER - Brian and Misty Gorman have been married since 1998 after meeting while attending Kentucky Christian College , even though Brian is originally from southern Indiana . Shortly after graduating they moved to Houston, Texas to begin a two year ministry there as an associate minister. Then it was off to Cynthiana, Kentucky to work as the senior minister of Robinson Christian Church for nearly four years. He came on Staff with FCC in September 2004 as the Minister of Adults and has now moved to his “sweet spot” as the Lead Minister.
MINISTER OF PASTORAL CARE - Brian and his wife, Nancy, celebrated 28 years of ministry with First Christian and their 33rd wedding anniversary this past Summer. Their oldest daughter, Charity is married to Don Owen and both are actively serving here at FCC. Carrie, their youngest, is married to John Elder and is involved in the exciting world of Christian music in Nashville. Brian's three grandchildren, Wyatt, Emma and Finley are mentioned quite frequently in "papa's" sermons.
Brian graduated in 1975 from Lincoln Christian College before attending Lincoln Christian Seminary and later earned a Master's of Ministry degree from Kentucky Christian College in 1987.
Brian's first ministry was a five-year Associate Ministry in Morton, Illinois prior to coming to Kenosha First Christian in 1979 to become our Preaching minister. Twenty-eight years later, this small congregation of 130 has grown into a large church of 700 meeting in our new, much larger facility on Wilmot Road.
He looks forward to moving into his "sweet spot" as Minister of Pastoral Care with First Christian in 2008 and turning the role of Lead Minister over to Brian Gorman.
Brian's love for the Word and people, his gift of humor and insight, along with his commitment to teaching the truth of the Word will inspire the hearts of those who listen to consider Biblical truths as they relate to life in contemporary culture.
DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRY -
Heather Johnson joined the staff at FCC in January of 2006. Heather graduated from Cincinnati Bible College in May 1997 and promptly moved to Everett , Washington where she began ministry at Northshore Christian Church. After being on staff at NCC for three and a half years, she then moved to Frankfort Kentucky and began her ministry at Capital City Christian Church where she served in ministry for just over four years.
Heather loves the open road, so as often as possible she jumps in the truck and takes off on road trips. This includes heading south to Kentucky to see her parents, Mike & Vicky Johnson ( Lawrenceburg , KY ), as well as her older sister Briana ( Lexington , KY) and her family. Heather also has a younger sister, Jody, who lives in Atlanta Georgia .
Heather's favorite verse is Philippians 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Dedicated to the service of Christ she has a deep desire to see children in a personal relationship with Jesus.
STUDENT'S MINISTER - JR and Heather made their way up north from Kentucky shortly after graduating from Kentucky Christian University. Two weeks after graduating they both said “I Do” before coming up here to First Christian. JR is a huge Harley Davidson fan and loves talking about motorcycles. Being from Kentucky you can’t count out the fact that he also likes hunting, fishing, and big trucks. Heather is also from Kentucky. She loves to play sports but above all else she loves basketball. Heather graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education and plans on teaching elementary school. Both JR and Heather are really excited to be here at FCC to work with the students to help them grow spiritually but also to be able to equip them to be able to put their faith into action. When you get some time stop by The Rush service at 10:30 on Sundays and see what’s going on with JR and the student ministry.
